NEED TO KNOW:
WAXED COTTON
Waxed cotton is wind and water resistant, while remaining highly breathable. By maintaining it properly, you can ensure it continues to protect you from the elements. We recommend rewaxing your jacket once a year if worn regularly.
- Remove any dust and dirt by brushing down the surface of the jacket with a dry soft bristle brush and then assess your jacket for cleaning and repairs.
- Stains or ingrained dirt can be removed by spot cleaning: dampen a lint free cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and gently wipe the soiled area.
- Air dry the jacket in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight for 24 hours. Make sure it’s completely dry before moving to rewaxing. Any repairs or deeper cleaning should be carried out by a professional.
NEED TO KNOW:
LEATHER
Leather is a durable and hard-wearing natural material derived from animal hide. Each hide has a unique grain pattern and may display natural marks or variations. Many of our jackets are made from full-grain leather or finished with specialist treatments such as hand waxing, which involves treating the leather with oils and waxes to enhance its appearance and support a distinctive aging process. Regular care helps maintain the condition, appearance, and lifespan of the garment.
While at-home maintenance can help extend the life of your jacket, we recommend periodically using a professional leather cleaner. To ensure your leather product is cleaned using the correct process and solvents, please contact one of our stores or our Customer Service team for a referral to a service provider that uses a gentle process suitable for leather.
- Remove any dirt brushing down the surface of the jacket with a dry soft bristle brush.
- Stains or ingrained dirt can be removed by spot cleaning; Using a bowl of neutral soap and cold water, dampen a clean cloth or sponge and gently wipe the soiled area.
- Shake off any excess water and dab the surface of the leather with a dry cloth or sponge
- If water marks appear, use a damp sponge and wipe over the affected area before once again removing excess water.
- If the surface becomes dry, we recommend using a leather conditioner to rehydrate the leather to avoid cracking and deterioration. This does not apply to waxed leather, which is finished with a specific combination of oils and waxes designed to develop a natural patina over time. Waxed leather should be reconditioned using one of our specialist partners. This is a chargeable service and can be arranged through our store team or Customer Service.
- Hang the garment in a well-ventilated area to dry for 24 hours, far from direct sources of heat and direct sunlight.
